The Jane C, or better referred to as the MV Jane Sea, was a 190 ft long bulk carrier built in 1959. For the first 16 or 17 years the vessel was named the Blackthorn. The ship made its career in various English companies, but its last owner is a bit murky. The Jane Sea arrived from Venezuela loaded with cement in September 1984, whereupon the ship was abandoned by the crew. One could imagine for failure to pay wages. After two unsuccssful attempts to auction the vessel, it was scuttled on April 9th, 1988 for use an an artificial reef. The ship rests upright on sand. The bow is at a depth of 65 feet and the stern is at 94 feet. Open cargo spaces make it easy to swim through. The currents are strong at times.
