Interesting History about MV Augustine Fresnel

A 168-foot long, French-flagged, buoy tender that was scuttled on 9 July 2003 to serve as an artificial reef. It sits upright on a sandy bottom at a maximum depth of 95 feet. The marine life is abundant. The ship was built in Canada and assigned to the maitnenace of lighthouses and beacons. After serving in the Mediterranean, she was assigned to the West Indies and French Guiana.
