The MV Franjack was a French flagged, 175-foot long suction dredger that was scuttled off Malendure Bay on 6 September 1996 to serve as an artificial reef. It rests upright on a sand bottom at a maximum depth of 79 feet. Marine life is abundant.
The vessel was built in 1965 and made its early carreer in Denmark as the Oresund until 1977 before being sold and ending up in the Antilles. The Franjack was damaged by Hurricane Hugo in 1989 and abandoned by its owners. The vessel remained there for years before it was cleaned up and made into an artificial reef.
This Youtube video of a dive on the Franjack , posted on 25 April 2021 by Cedric Voight, is worth watching. Great music.
