The MV Maverick is a nickname for the Scarlet Ibis , a 250-foot long (76m) stern-loading car ferry built in Glasgow in 1960. Operated by Seaworks Ltd of the Port-of-Spain, the vessel transported passengers between Port-of-Spain, Trinidad and Scarborough, Tobago.. The vessel could carry 192 persons and 244 tons of cargo. By 1976 it was too small to serve the growing needs of the islands. It was retired from service and on 7 April 1997 it was scuttled to serve as an artificial reef. It rests upright on the bottom, intact, at a depth of 49 to 98 feet.
